- Prima Scriptura refers to the Bible as the supreme authoritative source for Christian doctrine and practice above any and all other sources of religious teachings, faith traditions, and civil mandates if/when they conflict with the Word of God. Secondary sources may be useful to understand and apply Christian principles, but only when they are in complete harmony with the Bible.
Prima Scriptura: "We ought to obey God rather than men." -- Peter in Acts 5:29
- Tota Scriptura refers to the Bible in its totality, consisting of all 66 books in both the Old & New Testaments.
Tota Scriptura: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God." -- Paul in 2 Timothy 3:16
- Sola Scriptura refers to "the Bible and the Bible only" as the only source of Truth - without error and sufficient for our understanding of God and His conditions for our Salvation.
Sola Scriptura: "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." -- Jesus Christ in John 17:17
Bible Believers acknowledge the Bible is The Word of God.
