Ye Shall Receive Power

Introduction
Christ promised that He would send His Spirit to abide with those who wrestle for victory over sin, to demonstrate the power of divine might -- endowing the human agent with supernatural strength and revealing to the ignorant the mysteries of the kingdom of God.
Through the Spirit the believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature.

To what avail would it have been for the only begotten Son of God to humble Himself, endure the temptations of the wily foe, and die -- the just for the unjust, if His own Spirit is not given to us as a constant, working, regenerating agent, to make effectual in each individual case what He accomplished as the world's Redeemer?
It is only through the influence of the Holy Spirit that Christians are able to live for Christ. The following excerpts from Ellen G. White's writings are full of references to the work of the office of the Holy Spirit, in particular, the complete transformation that Christ brings about in a believer's life and just how desperately we need His empowering grace.

It is by the Spirit of Christ that the heart is made pure. Christ has given His Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress His own character on His true believers.

Please Note: The author of these devotional readings, Ellen G. White, was a non-trinitarian throughout her ministry as an inspired messenger of God. She believed God the Father was the only true God (John 17:3), Jesus Christ was God's literally begotten divine Son (John 3:16), and the Holy Spirit was Their own presence and power, which is given to us in accordance to our faith and obedience (Acts 5:32). It is important to understand each devotion by this truth.
